Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep concern after three Pakistani nationals were injured in the United Arab Emirates following a missile interception incident, as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East.

According to official reports, the incident occurred at Khor Fakkan Port, where debris from an intercepted projectile fell, triggering a fire and causing injuries to civilians. Among those affected were three Pakistani nationals, who sustained minor to moderate injuries and were provided medical treatment.

In a statement, the prime minister said he was “deeply concerned” about the situation and extended prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE and its people during the ongoing crisis.

Officials confirmed that the incident was a result of defensive action by UAE air defence systems, which intercepted an incoming projectile amid escalating regional conflict. Falling debris from such interceptions has increasingly posed risks to civilians in affected areas.

The government further stated that it is in close contact with UAE authorities to ensure necessary support for Pakistani citizens residing there. Authorities also emphasised the importance of safeguarding expatriates during such incidents.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for restraint and de-escalation, warning that continued escalation could further destabilise the region. Analysts note that Pakistan has consistently advocated diplomatic solutions as tensions between regional powers intensify.

The incident highlights the wider impact of ongoing conflict in the Middle East, where even intercepted missiles can result in civilian injuries due to falling debris. With a large number of overseas Pakistanis living in Gulf countries, such developments remain a matter of serious concern for Islamabad.

The situation remains fluid, with authorities closely monitoring developments and urging all parties to pursue peaceful resolution to avoid further harm to civilians.
