In a significant relief for intending pilgrims, Pakistan has announced that Hajj fares for 2026 will remain unchanged despite rising global fuel prices and economic pressures. The assurance was given by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, who stated that the government has taken steps to protect pilgrims from additional financial burden.
According to officials, the government has secured agreements with airlines to ensure that travel costs remain fixed under the official Hajj package. These agreements legally bind airlines to operate flights at pre-determined rates, preventing any last-minute increase in fares.
The announcement comes at a time when global oil prices have surged due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, significantly impacting aviation costs worldwide. Despite these challenges, authorities maintained that Pakistani pilgrims will not be affected by the increase in fuel prices.
The minister emphasised that all arrangements for Hajj 2026 have been finalised, with a focus on providing a smooth and affordable pilgrimage experience. He added that maintaining stable costs is a priority to ensure that pilgrims can perform their religious obligation without financial stress.
Officials further stated that a large number of Pakistanis are expected to perform Hajj this year under both government and private schemes. Preparations, including flight operations and accommodation arrangements, are being completed to facilitate pilgrims efficiently.
