The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to organise a major public rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa later this month on the directive of party founder Imran Khan, following the postponement of its planned April 9 gathering in Rawalpindi.

The decision was taken after a key meeting between Imran Khan and his counsel Salman Safdar at Adiala Jail on April 8, marking their first detailed interaction in nearly three months.

Rally Postponed in View of Diplomatic Sensitivities

According to party sources, Imran Khan directed PTI leadership to defer the Rawalpindi rally due to the ongoing high-level talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.

He emphasised the need to support Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and avoid any activity that could impact the country’s international image during sensitive negotiations.

KP Leadership Announces Major Power Show

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi confirmed that the party would hold a large rally in the province within the next ten days.

He said all party leaders and workers have been directed to ensure maximum participation to make the event a significant show of political strength.

“Insha’Allah, we will organise a large and impactful gathering as per Imran Khan’s instructions,” he said.

Political Messaging and Consultations

The chief minister revealed that Imran Khan has advised the party to make key political decisions through consultation with allied leadership, including Mahmood Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas.

He added that discussions were underway with alliance partners to finalise the venue and date of the rally, which is expected to be announced soon.

Imran Khan’s Health Concerns Raised

During the media interaction, the chief minister also raised concerns over Imran Khan’s health, stating that the former prime minister is suffering from a serious eye condition.

He questioned the lack of advanced medical treatment facilities and stressed that Imran Khan should be allowed treatment in accordance with his family’s wishes.

Broader Political Context

The PTI leadership described the postponement of the Rawalpindi rally as a responsible move, highlighting the party’s stance on prioritising national interest during sensitive international developments.

The upcoming rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to serve as a major political gathering, reflecting the party’s continued mobilisation efforts amid ongoing political challenges.

Conclusion

PTI’s decision to shift its political activity from Rawalpindi to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underscores a strategic approach balancing political mobilisation with diplomatic considerations.

As preparations for the rally gain momentum, the event is likely to be closely watched for its political significance and public response in the evolving national landscape.
