In a key diplomatic exchange, Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, during which both leaders discussed the deteriorating situation in Lebanon and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and France.

According to official details, both sides expressed serious concern over violations of the recently announced ceasefire in Lebanon and stressed the need for full implementation of the agreement. They underlined that continued violations could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilising the region.

During the conversation, the French foreign minister also appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating the initial ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and expressed support for Islamabad’s continued diplomatic engagement to achieve long-term peace.

The discussion also covered broader regional developments, with both leaders agreeing that dialogue and restraint remain essential to avoid further escalation. Officials noted that Pakistan and France will remain in close contact to further strengthen ties and coordinate on regional and international issues.

The development comes at a critical time when global efforts are underway to maintain a fragile ceasefire and prevent wider conflict in the Middle East.
