An Islamabad court has extended the interim bail of Dr Fazeela Abbasi in cases related to alleged money laundering and operation of an illegal clinic, allowing her temporary relief as investigations continue.

According to court proceedings, the extension was granted during a hearing in which the defence requested more time, while authorities presented details of the ongoing inquiry. The court directed the relevant agencies to continue their investigation and submit progress in subsequent hearings.

The cases against Dr Abbasi involve allegations of financial irregularities as well as operating a medical facility without proper authorisation. Officials have stated that the investigation is focused on verifying records, financial transactions, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that the allegations require further scrutiny and maintained that the accused is cooperating fully with investigators. The court, while granting relief, emphasised the need for due process and directed all parties to adhere to legal procedures.

Legal experts note that interim bail extensions are typically granted to ensure that investigations proceed without unnecessary detention, especially in cases involving documentation and financial records.

The development comes as authorities continue to tighten oversight on private medical practices and financial compliance. Cases involving alleged irregularities in healthcare facilities have gained attention in recent months, prompting calls for stricter enforcement.

The matter will be taken up again in the next hearing, where the court is expected to review progress in the investigation and decide on further proceedings.
