KPK Bans Govt Employees from Marrying Foreign Nationals

In a significant administrative move, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced new rules restricting government employees from marrying foreign nationals, as part of amendments to civil service regulations.

According to official notifications, the revised policy makes it mandatory for all civil servants to comply with the restriction. The decision has been implemented through changes in the province’s civil servant rules, making it applicable across all government departments.

However, the restriction is not absolute. Officials clarified that exceptions may be granted in certain cases, provided that the marriage receives formal approval from the federal government. This means employees can still marry foreign nationals, but only after going through an official clearance process.

Authorities say the move is part of broader administrative reforms aimed at regulating the conduct of public servants. The policy is also linked to concerns around oversight, documentation, and potential security implications in cases involving foreign nationals.

The new regulation is expected to impact a wide range of government employees, particularly those with international ties. Analysts note that such policies are not uncommon in sensitive government roles, where personal affiliations may require additional scrutiny.

While the government has framed the decision as a regulatory measure, the policy may also spark debate regarding personal freedoms and the extent of state oversight in private matters.

The development highlights evolving governance approaches in the province, with authorities focusing on stricter compliance and administrative control within the public sector.
