Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed on an official multi-country visit to Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Qatar, as Pakistan intensifies diplomatic engagement with key regional partners.
According to official sources, the visit will take place from April 15 to 18 and is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the tour, the prime minister is expected to hold high-level meetings with leadership in all three countries. Discussions are likely to focus on economic collaboration, investment opportunities, and regional security, particularly in light of ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
Officials indicated that Pakistan is seeking to deepen economic ties with Gulf nations, especially at a time when the country is working to stabilise its economy and attract foreign investment. Saudi Arabia and Qatar remain key economic partners, with both countries playing an important role in supporting Pakistan’s financial position.
The visit also comes amid heightened regional tensions, including developments related to US-Iran relations and the Strait of Hormuz crisis. Analysts believe that Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach reflects its effort to maintain balanced relations and contribute to regional stability.
Experts note that Turkiye continues to be an important strategic partner for Pakistan, particularly in defence and political cooperation, while ties with Gulf countries are crucial for economic and energy security.
The multi-country tour underscores Pakistan’s active foreign policy approach at a critical time, with expectations that the engagements will further strengthen partnerships and open avenues for economic cooperation.
The outcome of the visit is expected to play a key role in shaping Pakistan’s regional diplomacy and economic strategy in the coming months.
